Biography

José Muñoz Martín is a neuroscientist and predoctoral researcher at the University of Málaga, specializing in the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. He focuses particularly on the roles of microglia, neurogenesis, and cell signaling in psychiatric conditions, with his doctoral research exploring how early stress impacts brain cells and contributes to depression. Trained in biochemistry and biotechnology, he holds a master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Málaga and is currently completing his PhD in neurobiology and neurosciences. Muñoz Martín is also active in scientific outreach and has participated in entrepreneurship programs aimed at translating research into viable projects.
